For an optional field - using the keyboard there does not seem to be any way of getting rid of the popup (ex. pressing the Tab key or the Esc key). Using the mouse, user has to click somewhere else or click on another field. This reduces data entry efficiency. Ideally, I would just like to press the Tab key to move on to the next field without selecting any date."
